dancED’s signature Artist-In-Residence programs provide schools with the exciting opportunity to engage their students in a community-wide dance experience. Designed to target curricular objectives, our programs guide students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 through a dynamic creative process while inspiring joy, confidence, a sense of community and a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.

Ranging from one to five weeks in length, our programs strive to reach every student, regardless of ability or experience. Professional instructors guide each class through a warm-up, movement fundamentals and improvisational exercises, leading to the creation of a unique dance piece combining instructor and student choreography. Staff PD sessions are also included and assessment rubrics are provided to teachers who wish to use our residencies to evaluate their students.

All programs finish with a highly anticipated final showcase where students perform for a supportive audience of peers, staff, family and friends.

At the core of the dancED Movement Project approach are four key pillars that guide students towards a positive educational experience:

  1. Joy

  2. Confidence

  3. Community and Connection

  4. Appreciation for the Performing Arts
