About dancED:
dancED is a dance education company dedicated to fostering joy, growth and connection among students in Kindergarten to Grade 9 within the Edmonton and Greater Toronto areas. Our in-school artist-in-residence programs deliver high calibre dance instruction to enrich school environments and build strong communities. Through innovative teaching methods and our collaborative team-teaching approach, we make dance accessible to every child, regardless of experience or ability and aim to inspire young learners to unleash their creative potential.
Job Description: We are looking to hire 2-3 qualified individuals to join our team in both Edmonton and the Greater Toronto Area for the 2024/25 season.
Part-time and full-time positions are available, with flexibility throughout the year.
Applicants must have weekday availability (during school hours, approximately 8:30am-3:30pm daily).
Training will commence in the coming months with school residencies beginning as early as October and continue through to the end of June.
~35 hours per week.
Work opportunities continue into the summer months with our July and August summer camps.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging dance sessions to students aged 5-16 in various school settings.
Collaborate with co-instructors to create dynamic and inclusive learning experiences.
Adapt choreography and teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
Confidently manage groups of students (ranging from 30-60 at a time)
Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
Qualifications:
Professional dance training (a bachelor's degree in dance or equivalent training are a strong asset)
Minimum 2 years of experience teaching dance to children or adolescents.
Proficiency in multiple dance styles. We are specifically looking to hire hip hop and all-styles instructors.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to learn and adapt choreography quickly.
Highly energetic, with a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a team-teaching format.
