KRISTA DEADY, B.F.A
Co-Artistic Director and Dance Educator
Growing up in Edmonton, Krista first fell in love with music and movement after watching Riverdance on VHS. Soon after becoming a competitive Irish and Scottish dancer, she began taking classical ballet classes at the Edmonton Dance Centre under the direction of Deborah Morgan. Her training continued beyond Edmonton where she attended prestigious summer programs at Royal Winnipeg Ballet, National Ballet School and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. After gaining exposure to modern, jazz and hip hop dance forms, she enrolled in the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) BFA Performance Dance program. For two years of her undergraduate degree, she competed in Ontario Universities Competition for Hip Hop and in 2009, she was the dance captain for Ryerson’s Urban Hip Hop Union. Krista has had the privilege of performing in HOW TO SUCCEED: A Musical Tribute to Des McAnuff, the Royal Conservatory of Music opera The Cunning Little Vixen and off-stage as a background dancer for TV and film, and a prosthetics actor on two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery. She continues to sing and tour with her vocal jazz trio The Willows. While pursuing careers in the performing arts in Toronto, Krista and Andrea shared their passion for performing with young students through choreographing for Ryerson Theatre School’s Summer Programs for four consecutive years. Krista's enthusiasm for providing students with the opportunity to try something new led to the creation of dancED, which has given her the fulfilling career she always dreamed of.
